Community College – Learning for Livelihood
Recent studies conducted by various institutions have proved the fact that almost 50% girls dropout of education after finishing class X if not earlier. The problem of unemployability strikes them severely added to their inability to meet the cost of further education or vocational training. The concept of Community College therefore, has become the need of the hour since it provides an alternative system of education through appropriate skill development leading to gainful employment of disadvantaged and underprivileged sections of society. Incidentally, the Community College system has found a mention in the 10th plan and should be implemented.
The Community College movement, an innovative system of education aimed at empowering the disadvantaged sections of society, has today become a national phenomenon. The vision of AIWC Community College is of the community, for the community and by the community and to produce responsible citizens. Its focus is to promote job oriented, work related, skill based and life coping education in collaboration with local industry.
